How to mount img file in Windows 8.1

I downloaded SQL Server 2014 from microsoft web store, but the downloaded file name "Sqldev_eng_mar14.img" is an img file and unable to mount img because of below error

To open the same img file in Windows 8.1 please follow below steps

  • First create the backup of original file. By copying and pasting the same in the folder.

 

  • Now rename the new file from "Sqldev_eng_mar14.iso" to "Sqldev_eng_mar14.iso".
  •  Right click on the new file and select Mount.
  • Your *.img file is now mounted by windows.
